MESSAGES TO DISSIDENTS

KHIN OHMAR (BURMA):

I have a message that I would like to share with all the brothers and sisters in different parts of the world right now who are also going through the same struggle like us, who are struggling for freedom, for democracy, against any kind of authoritarian and dictatorships. We are doing the right thing.

AHMED SAMIH (EGYPT):

People who are fighting for their own freedom for their own democracy all over the world have to understand that they are not alone.

Nobody, nobody really can silence us because the technology and time are on our side.

RODRIGO DIAMANTI (VENEZUELA):

It’s better for us and it's better for every movement if we use this-- the internet and email and Facebook to fight together. We can help each other. And we can be stronger in our fight.

AMMAR ABDULHAMMID (SYRIA):

When you’re in the streets demonstrating for your rights, fighting for your rights, our job will be to support you and to get your voice to all corners of the world.

FANG ZHENG (CHINA):

As a matter of fact, from my own personal experiences, I just want to tell everybody that, no matter which country you are living in, in order to push forward the movement for democracy and human rights, inevitably, you are going to pay a price and make significant sacrifices.

DALAI LAMA (TIBET):

I think people, I think, have to carry their spirit and their struggle And I think possibly, nonviolent way. Long run, that's more effective.

JOSÉ RAMOS-HORTA (EAST TIMOR):

Do not lose hope. Persevere. But never surrender to hatred, to violence. Because the moment you surrender to hatred, to violence, you are losing.

CONSTANCIO PINTO (EAST TIMOR)

It is important to look-- continue to look forward. You cannot allow yourself to be hostage of the past.

They should know that they will have a lot of setbacks. But, ultimately, they will be victorious.

I will ask people, do not give up.

XIQIU “BOB” FU (CHINA):

Take courage, never give up.

CHARM TONG (BURMA):

Please do not give up. And also, please keep your hope.

SASHA VONDRA (CZECH REPUBLIC):

You should continue. That’s the only way how you can finally win.

CHEERY ZAHAU (BURMA):

Every day, every year we are one step closer to democracy.

ELLEN JOHNSON SIRLEAF (LIBERIA):

We can do it. We have a future.

ARIEL SIGLER AMAYA (CUBA):

Freedom is just around the corner. That is what we really believe.

REGIS IGLESIAS RAMIREZ (CUBA):

My message to all my brothers, be they Chinese, Burmese, Syrian, Venezuelan, or from any corner of the world, from anywhere someone decides to fly the flag of individual and collective freedom, is that they are not alone. They’re not alone even when they’re thrown in a dark, isolated cell. All the people of good faith, all the free spirits of the world will be with them, and God will be with them as well.
